Sunset on the salt lakes of bay area
The views of bay from Amtrak are stunning, especially between Santa Clara and Fremont stations. This part of the bay includes several lakes where water is systematically dried for making salt. Some of these lakes look either reddish or pink due to a certain extremophile micro-organism, which only survives in high saline conditions.

I had seen this perspective of the bay bridge in photographs sold at gift shops in San Francisco - but I would often wonder where and how did the photographer shoot this perspective from? That day we drove around Treasure Island for almost 2 hours in the middle of the night and after a lot of searching came up on the right spot. It is a little scary shooting with a tripod from here, as I was literally standing next to cars zooming past by me.
Social trees
Welcome to the social trees blog. Over time, I will intermittently post articles related to social networking, my current research interest. I will also post articles about the pictures that I recently shot as well. Happy reading.
